So today, Healthy + Treat = Pumpkin Pie Smoothie. All the pleasure without the guilt! Now, who doesn’t like that idea? Kids will love this smoothie too and not even realize it is packed with all good-for-you ingredients. Can I just say, “BONUS!”? Ready, set, go . . . time to start your blender! But first, . . .
I must admit some prep work is needed to create a super thick and creamy smoothie. I know, I know . . . you maybe did not want to hear that, but the extra work is worth it; I promise. It is not difficult at all, just a bit of planning. Freezing two ingredients is the extra work, so again not really work but preparation. Frozen pumpkin puree and bananas are vital to making sure your smoothie is the decadent treat it should be. Again, I promise that this extra step makes all the difference in the end result. And, come on, it really is about the end result!
A pumpkin pie smoothie will satisfy any pumpkin craving you might be having. It is just five ingredients and you are well on your way to pumpkin euphoria! It is a thick and frosty pumpkin pie smoothie . . . sublimely spiced and maple sweetened! So grab a straw or a spoon and dive into your very own healthy treat that sings Fall!
Pumpkin Pie Smoothie
makes 2 smoothies
1/4 cup frozen pumpkin puree
2 frozen bananas
about 1/2 cup milk (I used almond but substitute any milk you like)
maple syrup to taste (I added 2 tsp)
a pinch of pumpkin pie spice (if you only have cinnamon that is fine too!)
Blend away until it is a thick and creamy texture.
Do a taste test . . . yes! Add more sweetener and/or spice to desired taste.
Pour, serve and ENJOY!
